Spring
Are you ready for spring? I am and I live in an area where we really do not have much of a winter compared to a lot of other places. Being from the east coast originally, I know even though the day on the calendar says that it is the first day of spring it does not mean that the snow will magically be gone and that the days are going to be warm and sunny. You will be lucky if the temperature reaches a high of 60 degrees.
I do not like the cold, hence the reason that I live in Arizona now. I have been here for about eighteen years, so the thought of the winter back east is enough to send chills through to my bones. My step-dad says that I would turn into an icicle if I came back during the winter. I do have to admit that I miss all of the green from back east and there is nothing more beautiful than the trees as the leaves change color in the fall.
I am looking forward to the girls being able to play in the sprinkler in the back yard and filling up their pool so they can play in it. My whole family loves to swim. Another thing that I am looking forward to is more visits to the zoo, we have been there once this year but it is a favorite place for the kids. There is also a park that we visited last year that I would like to go back to this year, it has a pond that is filled with turtles and there are a bunch of ducks and other water birds.
I am not looking forward to spring cleaning, I am always cleaning and the thought of more cleaning just is not appealing to me. I used to be obsessed with everything being just so, but when you have five kids running around you learn to settle for less than best. It was not for the lack of trying, I would do what I could during the day in between taking care of the kids and when they went to bed I would finish. That is exhausting and when I finally finished and headed for bed I could barely muster up enough energy to climb the stairs.
Another thing that I am looking forward to doing is planting flowers!!
